Requirements
Spirit & Life Seminary admits qualified applicants regardless of sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin. Every effort is made to ensure the admissions process is as smooth as possible.
Certificate program admissions requirements
Admission into the Certificate in Ministry and Theological Studies program requires one of the following:
- Proof of graduation from an approved high school
- Satisfactory completion of the General Education Development certificate/HISET (high school equivalency)
- a passing score of 30 out of 50 on the Spirit & Life Seminary ATB Test.
The Ability to Benefit Test (ATB) is a Spirit & Life Seminary generated test that is approved by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Upon request, the test shall be administered in a secure environment with a proctor present. The student must show proof of identification which the proctor shall verify. The student must achieve a minimum score of 30 correct responses out of 50 possible. The student has 30 minutes to complete the test. The student may take the ATB Test a maximum of three attempts in a six-month period. The cost of the test is $25.00 per attempt. The fee is non-refundable, but applicant may contact the admissions manager prior to the test date to reschedule if a conflict arises.
Bachelor program admissions requirements
The applicant will need to present one of the postsecondary degree transcripts:
The applicant will need to have a completed Associate’s degree in general education or an associate’s degree within a related field.
The degree must be from an accredited institution by an accredited agency recognized by CHEA or the US Department of Education. The Associate’s degree must have a minimum of 30 credit hours in general education. To meet general education requirements, the student must have the following credits: at least a minimum of 3 hours in humanities/fine arts, a minimum of 3 credit hours in behavioral/social science, and a minimum of 3 credit hours in natural science/math. Up to 24 credits from the associates will be applied to elective hours. The 24 elective credits cannot be duplicated from the credits that are offered at Spirit & Life Seminary. The transfer degree GPA must be a minimum of 2.0.
The applicant can also be accepted by presenting an official transcript from not completed accredited associate or bachelor’s degree program.
Students must complete a minimum of 54 credits and 30 of them in General Education. To meet general education requirements, the student must have the following credits: at least a minimum of 3 hours in humanities/fine arts, a minimum of 3 credit hours in behavioral/social science, and a minimum of 3 credit hours in natural science/ math. Up to 24 credits from the associates will be applied to elective hours. The 24 elective credits cannot be duplicated from the credits that are offered at Spirit & Life Seminary. The GPA for each credit must be 2.0 or higher. The credits must be completed at an accredited institution that is accredited by an accredited agency that is recognized by CHEA or the US Department of Education.
