Ability to Benefit Test

The Ability to Benefit (ATB) test is a Spirit & Life Seminary generated test that is approved by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The ATB test consists of questions designed to recognize the applicant’s ability for collegiate success.

The test is a multiple-choice test and consists of 50 basic skills questions from a variety of domains including:

  • geography
  • sequencing
  • basic mathematics
  • English grammar
  • sentence structure
  • word definitions
  • synonyms and antonyms
  • comparing/contrasting


To pass the test, the applicant must successfully complete 30 of the 50 questions in a 30-minute time frame. The student may take the ATB Test a maximum of three attempts in a six-month period.

The cost of the test is $25.00 per attempt. The test fee can be paid HERE.
